As Bigger enters this seductive new world of money, politics and power — including a disastrous relationship with Dalton’s daughter, Mary (Margaret Qualley, HBO’s The Leftovers), and her boyfriend, the radical, leftist political leader, Jan (Nick Robinson, from Love, Simon) — he faces unforeseen choices and perilous circumstances that might change the bright future of a talented young man.
Directed by renowned visual artist Rashid Johnson, and written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, Suzan-Lori Parks, the HBO Films presentation Native Son tells the tale of how stereotypes can quickly become true, when race, class and the illusion of opportunity take over. The movie is based on the classic novel by Richard Wright.
