"His Dark Materials” returns. Accompany Lyra and Asriel on their journey into the unknown and to a new world. A new season with new challenges.
With the return of the series that has taken the baton from Game of Thrones, HBO continues to demonstrate that it leads the field in productions powered by imagination and strong plotlines. We already experienced a great many adventures and major revelations in the first season, leading to a grand finale with a sacrifice and the opening of an inter-dimensional gateway crossed by Lyra Belacqua (Dafne Keen).
And so the second season will begin with our Lyra entering Cittàgaze, following in the footsteps of her father, Lord Asriel (James McAvoy: The Last Station; Atonement; It: Chapter Two). This will give our heroine the chance to meet Will Parry (Amir Wilson), a boy who seems to have something as special as what she carries inside her. Will is fleeing from Lord Boreal (Ariyon Bakare), who has undertaken a shrewd hunt, apparently because of his father, John Parry, who disappeared some time ago while conducting research related to Dust and inter-dimensional gateways. Will's father, John Parry, will be played by Andrew Scott (Fleabag, 1917).
So, while Lyra and Will are getting to know each other and begin dodging new dangers, the witches and Gyptians, in alliance with the armored bears, prepare for a great war of dark dimensions. This second season is an adaptation of Pullman’s second novel, The Subtle Knife. Of course, the knife of particular powers will make its appearance there in the Torre degli Angeli (Tower of the Angels). This return to adventure will also feature Marisa Coulter (Ruth Wilson) and Lee Scoresby (Lin-Manuel Miranda). And Ruta Gedmintas will appear as the witch queen Serafina Pekkala.
This second season of His Dark Materials promises to be much more spectacular and filled with personalities, battles, chases and growing intrigue around Dust, Lyra and Will Parry.
His Dark Materials, the second season, more magic, more excitement, coming in November, on HBO and HBO GO.
