Jumanji: The Next Level. The rules of the game have changed

Have fun with Jumanji: The Next Level on HBO and HBO GO. Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart, Nick Jonas, Awkwafina and more venture back into the dangerous virtual world.

After the success of Jumanji: Into the Jungle (2017) we were all eager to continue exploring the limitless virtual world of Jumanji. In that movie we met Spencer (Alex Wolff), Martha Kaply (Morgan Turner), Anthony "Fridge" Johnson (Ser'Darius Blain) and Bethany Walker (Madison Iseman), four young highschool students who are accidentally transported to the jungles, deserts and mountains of the video game Jumanji, each with their own avatar, Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black respectively. Part of the humor of the movie came from the fact that these actors were playing teenage characters. Jumanji: The Next Level is a sequel that fully understands what worked from the first movie and exploits it with intelligence and good humor.

If you were amused by the intentionally hyperbolic performances of the 2017 film, the well realized landscapes of Jumanji, the disconnect between the real consciences transported to a virtual world and the programmed inhabitants of that world, the NPCs, the sequel will amuse you with more of the same things but delivered with greater confidence and pushed to new limits. The movie's title is accurate because, as in the second level of a video game, the tone is the same as in the first movie, but the landscapes are larger, the dangers more real, the execution more precise and the fun greater.

Don't miss Jumanji: The Next Level only on HBO and HBO GO September 12th.
